Turmeric

Turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) is a plant of the genus Curcuma in the ginger family. It has well-developed rhizomes, clusters, many branches, and is oval or cylindrical; the leaves are oblong or oval; the scapes are drawn from the top leaf sheaths; the spike inflorescence is cylindrical; the bracts are ovate or oblong, and the color is light green; the corolla is light yellow, and the flowering period of turmeric is August. The name "turmeric" for medicinal purposes was first recorded in the "New Compendium of Materia Medica", referring to a variety of plants in this genus. It was determined to be this species in the Qing Dynasty, and then evolved into the mainstream variety of "turmeric". Turmeric is produced in Taiwan, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Tibet and other provinces and regions in China. Turmeric likes warm and humid climates, sufficient sunshine, and abundant rainfall. It grows under forests, grasslands and roadsides; Turmeric is a pure tropical perennial herb, suitable for moist jungle edges and fertile and watery soils. The main way to propagate turmeric is by rhizome.

Turmeric is a dual-purpose material. The Compendium of Materia Medica states that turmeric can resist liver damage, lower blood pressure and blood lipids, relieve menstruation and relieve pain, and has great medicinal value. Curcumin, a natural dual-purpose substance extracted from turmeric, can regulate the physiological functions of the human body and has a significant inhibitory effect on tumor cells. Turmeric and curcumin are listed as food additives by the World Health Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

Apple extract

Apple extract refers to a mixture of chemical substances extracted from apples. It contains a variety of chemical components in apples, such as polyphenol compounds, organic acids, dietary fiber and vitamins.

Apples are rich in carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamin C, pectin, tannins, organic acids, and minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, iron, and potassium.

Apples have high nutritional value and are good for health, and have always been talked about by people. In addition, it also has the functions of eliminating salt, lowering blood pressure, removing cholesterol, stimulating intestinal peristalsis, and diuresis and laxatives. The pectin in apples can adjust the physiological functions of the human body. Antioxidant function.

Apple polyphenols have antioxidant, deodorizing, fresh-keeping, fragrance-preserving, color-preserving, vitamin loss-preventing and other functions, which can prevent food quality deterioration.

Therefore, they can be used in the processing and manufacturing of aquatic products, meat products, bread, cakes, oils, oil-containing foods and refreshing drinks, etc., which can significantly improve their product quality and shelf life.

Since apple polyphenols have a variety of health functions, such as preventing caries, preventing hypertension, preventing allergic reactions, anti-tumor; anti-mutation, blocking ultraviolet absorption and other physiological functions, they can be used in the manufacture of health foods and cosmetics. As a health and functional food additive, apple polyphenols only need to be used in an amount of 50-500PPm to have full efficacy.

Grape seed extract

Grape seed extract is becoming more and more popular as a nutritional supplement in the market. This is because grape seeds are rich in phenolic compounds (proanthocyanidins), have free radical scavenging and antioxidant activities, have higher bioavailability and stronger protective effects than vitamin C, vitamin E and Beta-carotene, and are often used in inflammation, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, cancer, peptic ulcers, microbial infections, etc.

Grape seeds account for 13% of the weight of grapes, and contain 40% dietary fiber, 16% oil, 11% protein and 7% polyphenol compounds.

OPCs (oligomeric proanthocyanidin complexes) are the main polyphenolic compounds in grape seed extract, which are a class of compounds in the form of oligomers and polymers formed by flavan-3-ols units.

Grape seed extract is beneficial for major Beta thalassemia, blood pressure regulation, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, chronic kidney disease, menopausal disorders, and reducing the adverse effects of chemotherapy or radiotherapy.

Rice bran

Rice bran is a rich source of a protein, fat, dietary fibers, vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals (mainly oryzanols and tocopherols). It exerts glycemic control, hypocholesterolemic, hypotensive, and anti-inflammatory effects, as well as promoting bowel function. Rice bran oil contains vitamin E (tocotrienols), plant sterols and provides healthy unsaturated fats. Vitamin E is involved in immune function and blood vessel health.

Rice bran may help lower blood sugar level by improving insulin resistance, a risk factor for type 2 diabetes. It may also promote heart health and recognized as a health food since it has cholesterol-lowering effects. Due to its effect on lowering LDL levels it and improving it may reduce heart disease risk.

Phytosterols, generally known as plant sterols, have similar structural and biological functions to cholesterol. Phytosterols can block the absorption of cholesterol, therefore, they are promoted as a way to improve heart health and decrease blood levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol.

Oryzanol which has been shown to suppress several enzymes that promote inflammation. In particular, it may target inflammation in blood vessels and heart membrane. If untreated, this inflammation can trigger atherosclerosis (hardening and narrowing of the arteries), which can lead to heart disease.

Rice bran has many potential health benefits, such as improved blood sugar control and heart health. In addition, it offers several antioxidants and may provide anti-inflammatory effects.

Sorbitol

The chemical name is 1,2,3,4,5,6-hexanehexol, and the chemical formula is C6H14O6. It is widely distributed in the fruits of plants in nature and is often used in food as a sweetener, bulking agent and moisturizer.

Sorbitol has a refreshing sweetness, which is 60% of the sweetness of sucrose. Its calorific value is similar to that of sucrose. Its combustion heat is -3025.5KJ/mol. 1g of sorbitol produces 16.7kJ of heat in the human body. Eating too much sucrose can cause tooth decay in children, and it has a greater health hazard for patients with diabetes, obesity, etc. However, sorbitol is not used by some bacteria and is an important raw material for the production of sugar-free candies and various anti-caries foods. Sorbitol in the metabolic process is not controlled by insulin and has no effect on blood sugar levels. Sorbitol liquid (water as solvent) with a content of 69 to 71% is often used in the food industry.
